What is it about designersblock that seems to attract new designers and the media alike?
I think we provide platforms that are more exciting for visitors and more appropriate for our exhibitors. We suggest designers sell creative intelligence at designersblock, whereas trade shows are all about selling the product. Careers progress by working on diverse projects in a market where buyers are looking for a variety of creative and practical skills. Selling products is just one option.
- Fashion Design Paul has turned a two day week love of creating fashion designs into a massive British export of fashion to nearly 200 of his own stores worldwide. He was an early pioneer in Japan and has been an influencer for thousands of designers over the years.
- Product Design Karim has moved from teaching design in the US into building a successful portfolio of innovative products that are marketed internationally in partnership with many other manufacturers and companies. He also has a number of his own publications to his name.
- Graphic Design Neville was the face behind the renowned The Face and Arena magazines that challenged all conventional ideas about visual communication at the time. He is also the creator of a number of typefaces and now teaches when he can at the London College of Printing.
- Eyewear Design Jason’s grandfather was a pioneer in optical safety lenses back in the ’40s and ’50s, and it is based on this heritage that Jason has reinvented the family technology into a leading-edge eyewear company selling globally today.
